Share of Children Among Trafficking Victims Increases, Boys Five Times; COVID-19 Seen Worsening Overall Trend in Human Trafficking, Says UNODC Report

A UN 2020 report on human trafficking trends identified the profile of trafficking victims. Five of every ten victims are women. Two are girls. Two are men and one is a young boy. But over the last 15 years, the profile has changed. The share of adult women has decreased from more than 70 percent to less than 50 percent in 2018. The share of children increased from around 10 percent to 30 percent and the share of adult men from 10 to 20 percent. To read the full press release with links to the data table click here.
